How We Sell

We treat your listing like it's the only one we have.

Most boat brokers spread your listing across every database and wait. We don't.

Before your boat reaches the open market, it goes to our private network of serious, educated buyers. People who've spent months preparing for this life and are ready to buy. While that's happening, we do the professional photography, cinematic video, and a 3D virtual tour that shows your boat the way it deserves to be shown. Then we take it everywhere.

Our team has 650,000+ followers across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Our private community has over 1,000 serious, active members who live and breathe the cruising life. When we list your boat, it gets seen by the right people, presented the right way, and sold in the right timeframe.

The Cost of Waiting

The cost of waiting adds up fast.

  • $22,000

    First month on the market

  • $66,000

    After three months

A bluewater cruising boat sitting on the market costs an average of $22,000 in the first month. Running costs, depreciation, and the market perception that something is wrong with it. Three months costs $66,000.

The best time to price it right and list it right is day one. That's the conversation we'll have before we accept your listing.

Why BWC

What you get that you won't get from the local broker.

Three things that decide whether your bluewater boat actually sells, in the timeframe you have, from the location she's in, in the shape she's really in.

  • 01

    Cruiser brokers, not desk brokers.

Our team has crossed oceans on boats like the ones we sell. We know the systems. We know the quirks. We know what the survey is going to flag, because we've had it flagged on our own boats. When your Buyer asks the hard question, our broker answers it from experience, not a script.
  • 02

Wherever she is, we can sell her from there.

Tahiti. The Caribbean. The Med. Annapolis. We've coordinated showings, surveys, sea trials, and closings across countries before. We know which flag to fly, what import duties to plan for, where to stage for a viewing, and how to keep the listing moving while you keep cruising.
  • 03

    We work around your sailing.

Out of service for a week. At sea when a Buyer wants to view. Boat needs work and the parts are on a slow boat themselves. We've been the seller too. We don't panic. We adjust the listing, talk straight to the Buyer, and keep things moving until she's sold.

How we work

Five honest steps. No surprises.

We're transparent about the process up front so you know exactly what you're signing up for. No hidden phases. No broker-speak.

  1. 01

    You tell us about her

Use the form at the bottom of this page, or just email us. A broker reads every intake and reaches out within one business day, to talk through your boat, your situation, and whether we're the right fit. We'll cover commission and the listing timeline on that first call. No surprises later.

  2. 02

We agree on a listing price

Before we accept the listing, we get on a call. We walk you through recent comparable sales, talk about your timeline, and recommend a price that gets you the best return without sitting on the market. The decision is yours, but the advice is straight.

  3. 03

We list to qualified Buyers first

Your listing goes to our private network of serious, ready buyers before it hits the broader bluewater channels. Then brokerage networks. Then everywhere else. We don't spray and pray.

  4. 04

We coordinate showings around your sailing

Offers come through us. Showings get scheduled around your schedule, not the other way around. If you're at sea, we handle the conversation; if a serious Buyer needs to view, we set the meeting point with you and them.

  5. 05

    We project-manage the close

Survey, sea trial, haul-out, import/export, paperwork. We handle the diligence period and keep all the threads moving so you can stay focused on cruising, or on whatever's next.

Honest Answers

The questions sellers actually ask us.

What happens if I'm at sea when a Buyer wants to come view the boat?
That's OK. We know what it's like to be out of service for days and on the move for days at a time. We'll explain the situation to prospective Buyers and, if they're interested, encourage them to put in an offer subject to viewing the boat. We'll then ask you to agree to a meeting point with the Buyers so they can come view her. You may need to stay in that location until they arrive. We are always working on your behalf, even when you aren't available.
Does it matter what country I sell my boat in?
Yes, it matters a lot. This is one of the most important pieces to consider when selling. It's our job to advise you on the pros and cons of different locations, tax consequences, and registry implications. There can be a big difference between the rules of different countries.
I'm already listed with another broker. Can I still list with you and access your Buyers?
It depends on your current arrangement. If you'd like to learn how you can work with us and access our Buyer network, send us a note through the form below and a broker will walk you through your options.
What if something breaks or needs to be replaced while the boat is listed?
Not a problem, and to be expected on a boat that's actively being sailed. The key is transparency and disclosure. We'll adjust your listing accordingly and explain the situation to interested parties. In our experience, bluewater Buyers are pretty understanding. They get it. We work hard to make sure our Buyers are well-educated on the realities of owning a boat.
My boat needs repairs but I haven't been able to get them done while sailing. What do I do?
Transparency and disclosure is always the best policy. We'll advise the Buyers of your situation and either adjust the price accordingly or build a clause that clarifies how repairs will be handled. Often the Buyers can actually help; they're usually flying in from a country where parts are easily accessible. That's why fostering a trusting relationship between all parties is so beneficial.
How do I decide what price to list my boat at?
Before we accept your listing, we'll schedule a call with you. During that call we'll discuss listing price and walk you through recent sales of similar boats. The decision is ultimately yours, but we'll give you straight advice. It's a bit of an art: choosing a price that gets you the best return while still letting your boat sell in a reasonable timeframe.
What is a "qualified" Buyer?
A Qualified Buyer is someone who has taken the time to become educated on what it actually means to become a bluewater cruiser. They've taken our courses, studied our materials, and now understand the realities of this lifestyle. They're grounded, not pie-in-the-sky dreamers. They've learned about boat buying, repairs, budgeting, and more. They know what they want, and they're ready to buy.
Can I just ask for advice?
Yes, absolutely. We're here to help. Send a note through the form at the bottom of this page and a broker will reach out. We'll help you sort out the unknowns and get you pointed in the right direction.
